About the Department
The Department of International Relations, situated within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of our university, commenced its educational activities in 1994 and produced its first graduates in 1998. It is one of the four departments under the Galatasaray University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. As of the 2024–2025 academic year, there are a total of 278 students enrolled in the undergraduate program.
As of January 2026, the Department of International Relations consists of 9 full-time faculty members, including 2 professors, 5 associate professors, and 2 assistant professors, as well as 4 research assistants. The department hosts a dynamic research environment with academics possessing international education and research experience.
In line with the requirements of the international relations discipline, the department aims to provide a foundational theoretical background in the fields of history, economics, politics, sociology, and law. It strives to produce graduates who possess multidisciplinary research competencies and the ability to apply this knowledge at a professional level. Furthermore, thanks to its competent staff specialized in various research areas, students are offered the opportunity to specialize within specific regional or thematic frameworks, in accordance with the universal principles of higher education.
